Q&A
Q
Why do I have to confirm eligibility before making my donation to CHOC?
A
We want to avoid having someone make a donation with the expectation of getting the miniature set when supplies of the type of miniatures have already been exhausted. We will be doing updates to the counts on this page and on social media.
Q
Once I make the donation to CHOC how soon will my miniature set arrive?
A
All 10 of the Miniatures sets are printed and primed. The painted sets will take at least one week to paint and clear coat before shipping(we may be able to get some sets painted in advance). We'll be checking in with CHOC a couple times a week to confirm the donation arrived. Once we have donation confirmation from CHOC we will package and ship via USPS Flat rate mail and email you a tracking number. Flat rate shipping is 3 business days.
Q
How does Kickass Minis make money on this?
A
We don't. All donations will be made directly by you to the CHOC donations web payment page. The benefit is for the children that CHOC serves. All the 3d resin material, wash chemicals, printer wear/tear, paint, shipping/handling costs are borne by Kickass Minis. Labor for painting and processing is by Kickass Minis staff and volunteers.
Q
What level of detail painting is used on the painted sets?
A
The painting is Tabletop quality which means its intended to look decent at arms length. The paint is mostly Vallejo acrylic although most have a Liquitex Basics airbrushed base coat. All are clear coated with a Satin finish.
Q
What kind of resin is used in the minis?
A
Creature miniatures are ABS resin with an admixture of Tough/Flexible. Terrain miniatures are Standard with an admixture of ABS.
Q
What resolution were the minis printed at?
A
They were printed on a mix of 8k and 12k resolution printers with a layer depth of 1/20th of a millimeter.
